The state police command has cordoned off the Plateau State House of Assembly premises.
It’s possible that the sealing has something to do with the state’s speakership dilemma.
A group of anti-riot police officers came at the Assembly complex at 5 am and blocked off the main entrance.
According to a source, the house is split into two sections, each of which is loyal to the two speakers—the rehabilitated Ayuba Abok, who was impeached in October 2021, and the current Yakubu Sanda.
A court had reinstated Abok on Monday, and, the next day, he stormed the complex to take charge of the Assembly.
At press time the command is in a meeting with the House leadership.
