He said that Adeleke was arrested following a distress call made to officers of the Federal Highway Patrol Team stationed along the expressway, by the driver of the truck.

The driver had run to the policemen to inform them that two gunmen had suddenly boarded his vehicle while in motion, pushed him out of the truck and drove off towards Lagos.

The team had pursued the truck towards Lagos.

According to the police spokesperson: “Having noticed that policemen were trailing them, one of the robbers who was driving the truck jumped out, but fell down and hit his head against the tarred road and he died on the spot,” Oyeyemi said.

He added that the accomplice was subsequently arrested and taken to Ewu-Oliwo Divisional Headquarters.

He disclosed that the DPO of Ewu-Oliwo Police Division, CSP Toyosi Bello, had accompanied the patrol team to the scene, where the corpse of the dead robber was recovered and taken to the morgue at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu.
