The New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) has backed the Nigerian military’s stance on the plan for an interim administration.
Recall that on Thursday, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) referred to calls for an interim government as being both unlawful and unconstitutional.
At the biweekly press briefing on the operations of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Major General Musa Danmadami, Director of Defence Media Operations, said this in Abuja.
Danmadami claimed that the people who are mischievously behind the calls for an interim government are those who are dissatisfied with the results of the presidential election.
Ladipo Johnson, the NNPP Presidential Campaign Council’s spokesman, responded to the incident by saying that the military was correct to have denounced the calls for an Interim National Government in an interview with The Punch on Thursday.
Johnson urged security personnel to find individuals attempting to overthrow the country’s constitutional order by demanding an unconstitutional form of governance.
He said: “The NNPP frowns upon any attempt to undermine our constitution. The Interim National Government or whatever you called it has no place in our constitution. But aren’t we tired of talking in the void? We thought by now the security agents would have arrested promoters of this evil agenda. They should be arrested and made to face the wrath of the law.”
