Prof. Onje Gye-wado, a former deputy governor of Nasarawa State, has been abducted by daring gunmen.
Onje Gye-wado, a former deputy governor of the state who served under Abdullahi Adamu’s administration, was reportedly kidnapped in the early hours of Friday when the attackers entered the village of Gwagi in the state’s Wamba Local Government Area.
The news was confirmed by DSP Ramhan Nansel, the public relations officer for the Nasarawa State Police.
He said the Commissioner of Police in the state CP Maiyaki Baba has mobilised and deployed “reinforcement comprising Police tactical teams, military, vigilante, and local hunters” to rescue the victim alive.
According to the PPRO, the armed men invaded the residence of the victim at about 12:30 am and shot sporadically before whisking him to an unknown destination.
