An accident along the Port Harcourt-Enugu highway on Saturday has left all fifteen person dead.
The fifteen occupant were burnt beyond recognition when the vehicle they were travelling in had a head-on collision with a Mercedes truck
Assistant Corps Marshal Bisi Kazeem, the spokesman of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, confirmed the accident in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.
Kazeem reported that the accident happened at the end of the Enugu highway at 8:20 pm.
He said: “The victims have been given mass burial. All obstructions have been cleared. The Enugu State Fire Service already extinguished the fire on the bus.
“The fatal crash is blameable on several factors, including fatigue, which must have made one of the drivers sleep on the wheels.’’
Kazeem also quoted the FRSC Corps Marshal, Dauda Biu’s advisory to motorists to avoid night travelling to reduce fatalities from road crashes as it is difficult to access help from other motorists at night.
