A fire outbreak has razed a two-storey building located at Rumuomoi, Obio-Akpor area of Port Harcourt in Rivers State.
It was gathered that the fire started at about 3:30 pm on Saturday on the top floor of the house.
Some tenants on the first and ground floors were seen making frantic efforts to evacuate their belongings before the fire spread to their areas.
The inferno was said to have destroyed all valuables on the last floor.
According to The Nation, a source, Confidence Emenike, who streamed the incident live on her social media page, lamented that the fire service operatives were absent despite emergency calls by people in the area.
She, however, said fire service responded after the inferno had spread to the first floor.
Crowd of sympathisers, who gathered around the building complained that the firefighters ran out of water.
One of the victims occupying the last floor broke down in tears, saying she could not rescue any of her belongings.
The Rivers State Commander, Federal Service, Abdullahi Alfa, confirmed the incident but said there was no casualty.
He said: “It was a two-storey building. Our men successfully put out the fire. There was no casualty”.
