Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, has congratulated Nigerian MMA star, Isreal Adesanya, over his victory at the UFC 287.
The 33-year-old reclaimed his world middleweight title at UFC 287 on Sunday morning.
Congratulating the champions, Obi said Adesanya’s reclamation of his title was made possible by resilience and perseverance.
Peter Obi tweeted, “By decisively knocking out his opponent and regaining his UFC Middleweight Title last night, Israel Adesanya @stylebender proved that persistence is the path to reclamation. Congratulations valiant Champion!”
Adesanya was backed into the cage by Alex Pereira in round two before unleashing two devastating right hands and a left hook to send his longtime rival down to the canvas.
Pereira had previously beaten Adesanya twice whilst they were both kickboxers in 2016 and 2017, before beating him again in UFC 281 in November 2022.
