Former President Olusegun Obasanjo paid a visit to Pa Ayo Adebanjo, the leader of the Pan-Yoruba sociopolitical organization Afenifere, on the occasion of his 95th birthday on Monday.
WITHIN NIGERIA reports that the former President visited the Afenifere leader at his country home in Ogbo Ijebu of Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Obasanjo arrived at Adebanjo’s residence in a black sports utility vehicle (SUV) at 9:13 a.m., accompanied by Chief Oyewole Fasawe and a clergyman.
The former president, who knelt in the living room, then directed the cleric to pray for the elder statesman and rejoiced alongside his host.
When reporters cornered him for a brief interview, Obasanjo said he came to congratulate Adebanjo on his birthday, not to give an interview.
