Armed bandits terrorising the northern part of the country have invaded Gangarbi village in Rano local council area of Kano state.

The bandits reportedly opened fire on the villagers, wounding at least two.

The gunmen kidnapped a 60-year-old man during the raid, the police in the Northwest state disclosed.

The police commissioner in the state, Manman Dauda, confirmed the attack, stating that the attack occurred at about 1:30 p.m. on Monday.

According to him, the police received the information that the bandits stormed Gangarbi village and kidnapped the 60-year-old Na’ayya Gangarbi.

Dauda said a combined team of the divisional patrol, JTF and anti-kidnap squad immediately rushed to the scene.

The police chief explained that two persons shot by the bandits, Maskuru Ukaisha on his right leg and Salisu Ibrahim on his left shoulder, were taken to Rogo General Hospital.

“Well-armed security personnel and other tactical teams, along with vigilante group members, have been deployed to the area to ensure the successful rescue of the victims,” NAN quoted the police commissioner as saying.

He said an investigation had commenced to apprehend the abductors and rescue the victims.
