Bashir Ahmad, President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Assistant on Digital Communication, has mocked Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi‘s detention in the United Kingdom.

WITHIN NIGERIA previously reported that on April 7, 2023, Peter Obi was detained and interrogated for hours by immigration officials at Heathrow Airport in London.

Diran Onifade, the Head of Obi-Datti Media Office, announced this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

According to the Obi-Datti media office, the former Anambra State Governor was wrongfully detained for alleged duplication offences committed by an impostor who is still at large.

According to the statement, the impostor of Obi may have committed various crimes that resulted in the harassment of the LP flagbearer, who has lived in the UK for over a decade.

Bashir stated on Twitter that the detention was unacceptable, claiming that Peter Obi was treated like a common criminal in the UK.

He also pleaded with the UK government to explain the circumstances surrounding Obi’s arrest and the numerous imposters to Nigerians.

Making light of the situation, the presidential aide wondered if the candidate for the February 25th election was the real Peter Obi or a forgery.

He wrote:

A whole former presidential candidate treated like a common criminal, unacceptable. Haba.

The UK should kindly tell us what they know about the numerous Peter Obis roaming around. His detention got me really disturbed.

Was it the authentic Obi or the criminal Obi that contested and came 3rd in the February presidential election? I hope it wasn’t the criminal one oo!
