Europa League: Why Man Utd drew 2-2 with Sevilla – Ten Hag

Erik Ten Hag

On Thursday, the first leg of Manchester United’s Europa League quarterfinal match against Sevilla ended in a 2-2 draw, which manager Erik ten Hag attributed to injuries.

The first-half goals from Marcel Sabitzer gave the Red Devils a two-goal advantage.

But in the final 10 minutes of the game, the LaLiga team tied the score thanks to own goals from Tyrell Malacia and Harry Maguire.

Ten Hag also saw Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez limp off with knocks.

“We had the game in our hands. We were 2-0 up and we should’ve scored a third and a fourth.

“We had to make some subs with injuries, like Rafa [Raphael Varane] at half time.

“Then we had another unlucky moment with Lisandro Martinez and we’re down to 10 and then we conceded a second own goal. It’s bad luck and we have to deal with it,” Ten Hag said.

United travel to Nottingham Forest next in the Premier League this weekend.
