Timipre Sylva, the immediate past Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, has clinched the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship ticket in Bayelsa State.
Recall that Sylva resign from his position to join the Bayelsa State governorship race.
On Friday, APC in Bayelsa State commenced primary across 105 wards to choose the party’s flagbearer in the November 11 election.
Sylva will be seeking to wrest the control of the oil rich southern state from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.
He will be squaring off against the incumbent, Duoye Diri.
Diri clinched PDP ticket on Wednesday in a lone primary election contest on Thursday.
