Supplementary election: Labour Party wins Enugu Assembly seat

Labour Party’s candidate, Hon. Osita Eze has been declared winner of the supplementary election for Oji River State Constituency in Enugu State.

Eze defeated the incumbent, Jeff Mba of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP after the rerun of the election in just one polling unit; Central school Oji-River which had 2489 registered voters.

WITHIN NIGERIA gathered that the result was declared inconclusive after the March 18th poll as the polling unit was cancelled and the margin of lead was less than the number of PVCs collected in the polling unit.

However, at the end of the election today, the Labour Party garnered one hundred and eight (108) votes while the PDP’s candidate polled one hundred and eighteen (118) votes.

With the results, the PDP failed to write off the deficit of over 300 votes which the Labour Party was leading with after the March 18th poll.

It was also gathered that Labour Party’s candidate, Hon. Eze has been returned elected by the retuning officer.
