The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as winner of the 2023 Adamawa State Governorship election.
He’s elected for a second term in office.
As announced by the returning officer of the election, Ahmadu Fintiri of the PDP scored a total of 430, 821 votes to defeat the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Aisha Binani who got 396,788.
Fintiri was declared winner of the keenly contested poll after collation was concluded on Tuesday.
The election was dogged by controversy and tension, the highlight of which was the declaration of Binani as winner of the election by the state resident electoral commission on Sunday while collation was still going on.
