FRSC deploys 950 personnel for Eid el-Fitr in Kwara

The Kwara State Sector of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, is mobilising 950 personnel for the state’s Eid el-Fitr celebration.

According to a statement made by the corps’ Public Education Officer in Ilorin on Wednesday, Basambo Olayinka Busari, operational equipment will be used in addition to personnel to prevent traffic jams and accidents during the celebration.

To monitor all roads during the Eid el-Fitr celebration, there will be 322 Special Marshals, 27 patrol cars, two power bikes, four ambulances, and a 70-ton tow truck.,

The statement informed that the State Sector Commander, Fredrick Ade Ogidan, has deployed personnel for traffic control at strategic locations within Ilorin township and major cities in the state for the Eid el-Fitr special patrol scheduled to start from 20th to 25th April 2023.

The sector commander urged motorists to obey traffic rules and regulations and avoid excessive speeding, overloading, obstruction, use of phones while driving, passenger manifest violation, operation of mechanically deficient and rickety vehicles, and route violation among others.

To achieve free flow of traffic and reduction in road crashes during the festivities, heavy tow-truck, ambulances and rescue marshals will be stationed along major highways within the state, the statement added.

According to the statement, the operation is targeted towards achieving a 5% Reduction in road traffic deaths and injuries, being the Corps 2023 Corporate Strategic Goal 1.
