The Delta State Police Command has dismissed Inspector Ebri Ubi, who shot and killed a trader, Onyeka Ibe, for allegedly refusing to part with a N100 bribe in Oshimili North Local Government Area of the state.
WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that the police inspector was arrested after shooting and killing Ibe while performing a stop and search along Ugbolu-Illah Road.
The trader, a phone seller, was said to be on his way to work when he was stopped by policemen at a checkpoint and shot in the presence of his wife who was in the car with him.
Following public outcry, the state Commissioner of Police, Ari Muhammed Ali, swiftly issued a statement ordering the arrest of the killer cop.
The State Police spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, who disclosed this in a statement said the trigger-happy cop will be charged in court on Wednesday, April 19, 2023.
“INSPR has been dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force and will be charged to court tomorrow Wednesday 19th April 2023. The court will be determined tomorrow,” he stated.
