Bashir Ahmad, President Muhammadu Buhari’s special assistant on digital media, has reacted to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) final governorship result in Adamawa State.

Recall On Tuesday, INEC declared Ahmadu Fintiri, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, the winner of the Adamawa governorship election.

Muhammed Melee, the Returning Officer, declared Fintiri the winner after he received 430,861 votes, defeating his main opponent, Aisha Dalhiru Binani of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who received 398,788 votes.

INEC reopened the collation center for the supplementary election results on Tuesday after the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Yunusa Hudu Ari, controversially declared Binani the winner of the election on Sunday, prompting the commission to ask Ari to leave the office on Monday after previously condemning the announcement.

Following an INEC meeting on the subject, the collation of results resumed on Tuesday, and Fintiri was declared the winner when it was completed.

In response to the final results, Ahmad took to his verified Twitter account to lament the loss of another state for the APC.
