The police in Borno State have restricted vehicle traffic in Maiduguri as part of security measures for the Eid prayer.
According to the deputy spokesperson, Nahum Kenneth, the 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. restriction will help the personnel protect residents.
The arrangement would apply to all places of worship, shopping malls, and recreation areas where large crowds are anticipated.
According to Kenneth, there will be patrols, stop-and-search operations, a security agency show of force, and the gathering of intelligence and information.
Additionally, safer highway patrol teams have been stationed on major thoroughfares to guarantee commuters’ and travellers’ security.
“The restriction, though regretted, will include the use of vehicles, tricycles and bicycles, except those on essential duties,” the PRO noted.
The police advised Muslim faithful to pray close to their homes and go early due to security screening.
Parents and guardians were asked to take proper care of them to avert incidents of missing children.
