On Wednesday, the police in Bauchi State reported that they had detained some thugs (Sara Suka) in the city of Bauchi in advance of the Sallah celebration this year.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Ahmed Mohammed Wakil in the state announced the arrest of the thugs.

In a press release he signed and provided to newsmen in Bauchi, the police reaffirmed their readiness to carry out their constitutional obligations to uphold law and order, provide adequate security for people and property, prevent and identify crimes, and enforce the law to maintain civil order.

Wakil, a Superintendent of Police (SP), claimed that three teenagers who had amputated his right hand at the age of 21 were among the thugs who had been detained.

He added that the suspects confessed to the allegation against them and were remorseful for their actions.

The three teenagers, the police spokesman stated, were among those arrested Tuesday last week by operatives of the command’s Operation Restore Peace (ORP) at Mallan Goje, Nasarawa, and Karofi areas of the state capital.

Wakil listed the suspected thugs arrested in the operation as Adamu Sirajo (25, alias Dan Baba); Sadiq Isah (20); Nasiru Abdullahi (19); Amir Abdullahi (20); Ukasha Ladan (21); Abdulkarim Mohammad (22); Ibrahim Musa (17, alias Na ma’aiki); Abbas Usman (18); Buhari Ahmad (19) and Safiyanu Abdullahi (20).

Exhibits recovered from the suspects, according to the PPRO, included three knives, four machetes, two sharp iron, among others.
