When Ademola Lookman signed for Everton for a big fee back in 2017, big things were expected of the Londoner. He has never quite lived up to his true potential, but Lookman seems to have found his home in Italy with Atalanta.
Can Atalanta Break into the Top Four in Serie A?
The race for the top four in Serie A could go to the wire, as only a handful of points currently separate third to sixth. Atalanta are certainly in the mix, and Gian Piero Gasperini’s men are desperate for UEFA Champions League football. Napoli have been the real deal this season and are priced at just 1/100 at Paddy Power to win the title. You can use their bet calculator to help you out with odds and prices.
Finishing in the top four will take some doing, especially as one place has already been taken. Lazio are having a fine campaign and find themselves in a good position, while the two Milan clubs will fancy their chances. Roma are up there, and Juventus can never be ruled out. At the very least, Atalanta could settle for a top-six spot.
Lookman in Fine Form in Italy
Despite being just 25-years-old, Lookman has been around the houses in his senior career. He broke onto the scene at Charlton Athletic, but his big-money move to Everton did not quite go to plan. RB Leipzig paid over £20m for his services in 2019, but Lookman was back in England shortly after with loan spells with Fulham and Leicester City.
Lookman made the brave decision to leave Germany for Italy in August 2022, and the Nigeria international had made an exceptional start to his Atalanta career. He scored on his debut in a 2-0 win at Sampdoria and has gone from strength to strength.

Lookman was in sensational form from October to January, scoring a staggering 13 goals in 13 league and cup games for Nerazzurri. In January alone, the attacker bagged seven goals in four matches, including a trio of braces.
The goals somewhat dried up after that purple patch, but Lookman was back on the scoresheet in a 3-1 win at Cremonese at the start of April. He made history in the process, becoming the first Atalanta player to reach that milestone for 70 years.

Could the Nigeria International Move Back to the Premier League?
Lookman’s performances in Italy have not gone unnoticed, and he could be on the radar of many Premier League clubs this summer. The English-born Nigerian international has unfinished business in England’s top tier after indifferent spells with Everton, Fulham and Leicester.
For now, though, Lookman’s full focus will be on success with Atalanta. The battle for European spots in Serie A this season looks to be heading to the wire, and Gasperini’s troops are well and truly in the mix as we enter the latter weeks of the campaign.
Lookman has already played a huge role for Atalanta this term, and the Nigeria winger will no doubt continue to be a pivotal player at Gewiss Stadium for the remainder of the season.
