Theo Walcott names best team in Premier League

Southampton forward, Theo Walcott has named his former club Arsenal as the ‘best team in the Premier League.’

The former England International said the Gunners are ‘way better’ than title rivals Manchester City.

WITHIN NIGERIA had reported Southampton held Arsenal to a 3-3 draw in a Friday night thriller at the Emirates Stadium.

The latest draw meant that Mikel Arteta’s Gunners have now dropped points in three of their last three games against Liverpool and West Ham and now the Saints.

Ruben Selles’ side took the lead after just 28 seconds after Carlos Alcaraz intercepted Aaron Ramsdale’s simple pass to rifle a shot into the far corner, scoring the second-fastest goal.

Southampton then doubled their lead in 14 minutes when Walcott latched onto a through ball to slot in the second.

Gabriel Martinelli put one back for the home side but it was not long before Duje Caleta-Car headed in from a rare Southampton attack in the second half.

But Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka both scored late goals to salvage a point for Mikel Arteta’s side.

And ahead of their crunch encounter with Manchester City at the Etihad on Wednesday, the Gunners are five points clear, although City has two games in hand.

But Walcott believes his former team can stun the defending champions at the Etihad.

Walcott told NBC Sports: “Arsenal are just incredible. We played Man City the other week and I thought Arsenal were way better than them.

“That’s how I see Arsenal at the moment. [Arsenal] are the best team in this league at this moment in time.”
