Brighton vs Man United

Manchester United defeated Brighton 7-6 on penalties to advance to the FA Cup final against Manchester City.

Neither side could break the deadlock during the 90-minute or 30-minute extra-time periods, and Solly March was the unfortunate man who sent his penalty over the crossbar.

On June 3, the all-Manchester FA Cup final will be played.

De Gea on United’s progress

“We have one trophy already, we’re into another final and fighting for the top four in the Premier League. It’s not enough for us, but it’s a great step. We must finish the season strongly and see what else we can achieve.”

De Gea: Brighton played well, but we’re in another final

It was another penalty shootout that De Gea failed to make a save in, but he was on the winning team.

“It was a very tight game against a very good team,” he told BBC Sport. “They play really good football, but we’re in another final.

“We have another big game on Thursday at home, we’ll recover and prepare for that game.”

He was then asked about how it felt to face such a strong standard of penalties.

“They took great penalties, we prepared as always,” he responded. “I tried to put pressure on the takers but they put it away with perfect penalties.”
