The popular Bodija Plank Market in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, was completely destroyed by fire on Tuesday.
Millions of items worth millions of Naira were reportedly destroyed, while the reason of the fire outbreak could not yet be determined at the time this report was filed.
According to sources, Oyo State Fire Service emergency units were still struggling to put out the fire at the time this report was filed because of the intense downpour that was taking place nearby.
There were no casualties, the emergency unit source assured SaharaReporters, and they would share more information about the situation later.
‘Men of the fire service are currently at the scene of the incident fighting the inferno. There is no report of any casualty yet,” the emergency responder said on the phone.
