Adamawa Central: NNPP Senatorial Candidate Defects To APC

Alhaji Hamman Ahmadu, a candidate for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 election for the Adamawa Central senatorial zone, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Hamman Ahmadu, also known as Dan Maje due to his ancient Adamawa title of Dan Maje, is returning home. Before quitting to join the NNPP to pursue his desire to become a senator, he was a member of the APC.

On Friday, Ahmadu told reporters that he had decided to leave the NNPP due to a number of problems related to the most recent elections for the National Assembly and the presidency.

Ahmadu, presenting his new APC membership card to newsmen, said he was committed to his future political journey in the APC.

“I returned to my house. I left because many people were fighting me but now I come back never to leave again because I have discovered that this is where God wants me to serve Adamawa State and my people,” he said.

WITHIN NIGERIA reports that Dan Maje had come third (on the platform of NNPP) in the last Adamawa Central Senatorial Zone election which was won by the Speaker of the state and candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election, Aminu Iya Abbas, who polled 245,880 votes.

Abbas was followed by Sen Abdul-Aziz Nyako of APC who got 118,555; and then Hamman Ahmadu who received 21,352 votes.
