Former Lawmaker Urges Members-Elect To Reject Leadership Imposition

Emeka Anohu, a former member of the House of Representatives in the 8th Assembly, has urged the members-elect to take control of their futures by making sure they elect the Speaker of their choosing without any outside intervention.

According to him, when a Speaker is elected from among the members, the legislature runs more smoothly and decisions are made with the best interests of the Nigerian people in mind.

He claimed that the best way to ensure the independence of the legislature is to have the leadership chosen by the membership.

Anohu also implored the incoming members of the 10th Assembly to be vigilant and cautious in electing their leaders and not be deceived by politics and propaganda.

He also pleaded with the powers that be to allow the yearning of the members to prevail when the National Assembly is inaugurated in June.
