Gov Lalong calls for calm over attack in Jos South

Simon Lalong, governor of Plateau State, referred to the recent attacks in Farin Lamba Turu, Jos South local government area, where local miners were killed, as “callous, condemnable, and unfortunate.”

Lalong expressed his great concern over recent events in the state that resulted in the loss of life and property and said that security personnel were trying to find the assailants and prosecute them.

The governor expressed sympathy to the relatives of the victims in a statement signed by his head of press and public relations, Dr. Makut Simon Macham, and gave the assurance that the government would take action against those who enjoy hurting innocent people.

The governor also expressed shock and sorrow over the accident that involved a fuel tanker which exploded and caught fire on Bauchi Road, Jos, the state capital, killing 10 people.

Lalong said the situation which led to traffic disruption affected business activities in the area.

He sympathised with the victims of the accident and praised security personnel and first responders who swung into action to rescue the victims and bring the situation under control.
