Victor Osimhen, a Nigerian forward, could win his first major club title on Sunday, April 30, 2023, if Napoli defeats Salernitana at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Victor Osimhen, who has yet to win a major title in his football career, has only had the experience of winning a title when he led the Nigeria under-17 team to victory in the 2015 World Cup and also led his country to victory in the 2015 Under-23 AFCON.
In 25 Italian Serie A games this season, the 24-year-old Nigerian striker has scored 21 goals and provided five assists. His contributions are about to help Napoli win their first Italian Serie A title in 33 years.
Napoli previously won the title twice, in 1987 and 1990, when late Argentine icon Diego Maradona was a member of the Italian team.
Osimhen’s name may live on in the hearts of Napoli fans for the rest of their lives if the club wins the scudetto after more than three decades of waiting.
Despite having six league games remaining after this weekend’s game, the Naples-based team could be crowned champions if they defeat Salernitana and second-placed Lazio fails to defeat Inter Milan at the San Siro.
Napoli vs. Salernitana was originally scheduled for Saturday, followed by Inter Milan vs. Lazio at 11:30 BST on Sunday. However, officials in Naples ordered that the Napoli game be moved to Sunday for safety reasons because a major comic book convention will be held in the city on Saturday during the same time that the game was originally scheduled.
Based on this, the Napoli vs. Salernitana game, which could decide the Serie A title, will be played on Sunday at 2 p.m. WAT.
If Napoli wins, the Naples-based club will lead the league table with 81 points, which Lazio will not be able to overcome if they lose to Inter Milan on Sunday. Lazio are currently second in the table with 61 points from 31 games, 17 points behind Napoli with 7 games remaining.
