The body of a man named Oyindamola Adeyemi was allegedly killed and mutilated at Ijebu Ode on January 28, 2023, according to members of an infamous ritualist gang, who was apprehended on April 28 by men from the Ogun state Police Command.
Detectives from the Obalende divisional headquarters conducted a meticulous intelligence-based investigation that led them to the suspect’s hideout in the Ijade Iloti area of Ijebu Ode, where they were able to arrest 35-year-old Ifasoji Ayangbesan, whose other gang members had already been apprehended.
When he heard that he had been mentioned by his coworkers, the suspect—who had been accused by the earlier-arrested members of the syndicate of having purchased the victim’s two legs—left quickly.
Since then, SP Murphy Salami of the DPO Obalende division has assigned his detectives to track him down in an effort to apprehend him, potentially retrieve the two legs that were amputated from him, and bring charges against him and his co-defendants. On April 28, 2023, he was caught at his hideout in Ljade Iloti, and his luck turned against him.
The suspect offered the policemen a bribe of one million naira shortly after being detained, but they declined.
During questioning, he admitted to being a member of the syndicate that killed Oyindamola Adeyemi and that he was the one who amputated the deceased’s two legs, which he then claimed he used in a ritual.
Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson of the police command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the state Commissioner of Police, CP Olanrewaju Yomi Oladimeji, commended his men for their uprightness and has directed that the suspect be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Departments in order to prosecute him with other members of his syndicate.
