Wike Sets Up Committee To Welcome Tinubu To Rivers

Wike and Tinubu

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has formed a committee to plan President-elect Bola Tinubu’s two-day working visit to the state.

Wike stated this over the weekend at the inauguration of a planning committee for the inauguration of Governor-elect Siminalaye Fubara and Deputy Governor-elect Prof. Ngozi Odu.

The Rivers governor previously stated that Tinubu would be in the state on May 3 and 4 to inaugurate the Rumuola-Rumuokwuta flyover and Magistrate Court building in Port Harcourt.

Wike went on to say that the committee formed to plan Tinubu’s two-day working visit to the state is made up of members of the state’s All Progressives Congress (APC) and Social Democratic Party (SDP).

The governor also disbanded the Governorship Campaign Council of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 election.

He praised the campaign council’s Director-General, Felix Obuah, and members of his team for their efforts, which led to the party’s 98 percent victory at the polls.

Wike, who inaugurated a planning committee for the inauguration of the governor-elect and the deputy governor-elect, urged the members of the committee to view their duties as a service to the state.

He said:

This is not a party affair, but a state affair. So, the committee is made up of all shades of opinion. In fact, our state has the largest number of such committees bearing in mind how our state is. The inauguration committee is just to prepare for the swearing-in of the governor and deputy governor-elect. It is therefore not automatic that you become a cabinet member because you are a member of the inauguration committee.

Tammy Danagogo, chairman of the inauguration committee and Secretary of State, said it was a privilege to be chosen to plan and execute activities to usher in the new administration.

It was, according to Danagogo, a clarion call to serve and justify the trust placed in them. He promised that they would work with the new administration as one united political family.
