Osibanjo Oluwaseun, a driver for the Lagos State Bus Rapid Transit, was brought before an Ikeja High Court on Tuesday after allegedly killing six persons when his vehicle collided with a train at Ikeja.
The state government has filed 16 counts against the defendant, who was arraigned before Justice Oyindamola Ogala. The charges relate to past damage and involuntary manslaughter.
Babajide Martins, the director of public prosecutions, testified in court that the BRT driver murdered the victims carelessly when he disregarded warning signals and struck an approaching train.
He claimed that the defendant negligently caused severe harm to 10 other bus passengers.
