A member of the Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, Rafiu Akinwale also known as ‘Slow’, has been arrested by the police for allegedly killing a peacemaker, Prince Adesoji Adesida, at a funeral in Akure, Ondo State.

Akinwale allegedly pushed Adesida while the latter was trying to settle a fight between the suspect and his girlfriend at a funeral held at the International Cultural and Event Centre on Friday.

It was gathered that the deceased saw Akinwale beating up his (Akinwale) girlfriend whom he accused of collecting a telephone number from another man at the ceremony.

According to PUNCH, a source, who does not want to be mentioned, said, “As the two lovers were fighting, Prince (deceased) went there to stop Akinwale from beating up a woman but out of anger, Akinwale pushed the deceased and he fell on the ground and lost consciousness.

“He was immediately rushed to a hospital where he was confirmed dead. But the man (Akinwale) has been arrested by the police.”

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident and the arrest of the suspect.
