There is an ongoing war on Twitter, with the Lega Serie A Twitter under attack from Nigerians over controversial graphics posted on the account.
Victor Osimhen scored the goal that drew Napoli level against Udinese and delivered the Partenopei’s first Scudetto since the 1989/90 season and their third ever.
The Nigerian scored 22 goals and provided four assists in 29 league games to help the team maintain a 16 points lead with five games to go.
Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was also instrumental in the triumph, scoring 12 goals and providing 10 assists in his first season in the Italian top flight.
Nigerians react to Serie A post
Late football legend Diego Maradona guided the team to victory the last time Napoli won the Scudetto. Osimhen has been the face of Luciano Spalletti’s winners.
A controversial image depicting Maradona wearing a crown for Kvaratskhelia did not go down well with Nigerians who felt their boy Osigoal as he’s fondly referred to, is the poster boy.

”I hope this isn’t a subtle racism. I expect @sscnapoli to make the needful correction of the error made by @SerieA_EN by giving @victorosimhen9, the true king of Napoli his deserved honour. Osimhen scored 22goals and assisted 4 in Serie A for Napoli.. (without penalty). Kvaratskhelia scored 12 and contributed 10 assists for Napoli.”

”Victor Osimhen not only gave the team so many goals but also gave the team a trophy-winning goal. Victor was absent for one game, and your team exited the champions league. Let’s not act like we don’t know who the real king is.”

”Don’t be a joke – without @victorosimhen9 – you started the journey that led to exit in the champions league. A half fit Osimhen tried to resurrect it in 2nd leg. Kwara is a contributor no doubt but the king of Napoli is Osimhen. In Serie A – You started to lose games back to back when he was injured and started winning again once he is back. The throne of Napoli and Serie A for this season is Osihmens!!!”
The tweet has received over 5 million views as of the time of filling this report, with most Nigerians republishing a remake of the graphics with Osimhen on the throne by Twitter user @imnotallan.
Osimhen breaks Eto’o record
Victor Osimhen’s goal that delivered the league title to Napoli was also a record-matching and record-breaking goal for the Nigerian striker.
He broke the Eto’o Serie A record for most goals by an African in a single season, as reported by Sports Brief. He also matched George Weah’s record of most goals by an African in Italy.
With five games left this season, he could cement his status as the best African to play in the Italian top-flight division.
