Yusuf Gagdi, the former Deputy Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, has declared his intention to run for Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives.
WITHIN NIGERIA has learned that the lawmaker announced his intention to run for Speaker of the 9th National Assembly in Abuja during the unveiling of his manifesto and a compilation of his achievements.
Gagdi, who believes he has what it takes, has stated that he is courting elected legislators from other parts of the country as well as other political parties to assist him in achieving his goal.
The two-term lawmaker, who promised to lead a transparent House of Representatives, advanced that he has what it takes to lead the 10th House of Representatives and pleaded with APC leadership and President-elect Bola Tinubu to allow lawmakers to choose their leaders.
Some elected federal lawmakers, as well as friends and relatives of Gagdi, who represents the Panskhin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency in Plateau State, were said to be present to support his ambition.
Gagdi was elected to the Plateau State House of Assembly in 2015, where he served as Deputy Speaker, and he was elected to the House of Representatives in 2019.
He sponsored six private member bills in the 9th National Assembly, which President Muhammadu Buhari signed into law.
