A 69-year-old man identified as Babatunde Fabiyi sat for the just concluded 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) with the aim of studying medicine at the University of Lagos.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), made this known in its Weekly Bulletin obtained on Monday in Abuja.
Fabiyi, who picked UNILAG as his first choice, picked Lagos State University popularly known as LASU as his second choice with the purpose of studying medicine.
The examination body noted that the sexagenarian picked the Yaba College of Technology as his third choice to study science laboratory technology.
The Board disclosed that the sexagenarian, who hailed from Egbado-North, Ogun State, sat the UTME at Centre 457, Nubi Private School, Okota, Lagos State.
It was further gathered that the centre’s examination officials, in their various submissions, indicated that Mr Fabiyi was a model candidate as he not only came to the centre early enough but also followed all the instructions given to him diligently.
Over 1.5 million candidates sat the 2023 UTME and results from the examination with the exercise coming to end last Saturday with mop-up UTME in some examinations held across the nation.
Meanwhile, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has released the results of the 80,000 candidates who participated in the mop-up Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination held Saturday, May 6, 2023.
Recall that the Board following an emergency board meeting held in Abuja on May 1, 2023, arranged a mop-up UTME for candidates who missed the opportunity to sit the examinations between the period scheduled by the board owing to “no faults of their own”.
The examination body in the minutes of the meeting cited three categories of candidates namely the candidates, “who were verified at their centres but could not sit the examination; those who could not be biometrically verified, and those with mismatched data,” the board stated.
The board through its spokesperson, Dr Fabian Benjamin noted that the results of the mop-up UTME have all been released.
“Results of mop-up UTME held on Saturday, May 6, 2023, released,” the board said.
