A 45-year-old housewife, Zainab Rab’u, alongside her five accomplices have been arrested by the police in masterminding the kidnapping of a six-year-old boy, Almustapha Bashir in Kano State.
The suspects also demanded N20 million ransom for the release of the minor.
The state Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Gumel, told newsmen on Thursday that the housewife connived, with, Abdulrashid Sa’idu 27, Hassan Abdullahi 24, Ahmed Saleh 25 years old, all of Shekarau quarters, Kano to perpetrate the crime.
Gumel explained that after negotiations, the kidnappers settled for the sum of N5, 150, 000:00, which was promptly paid for the release of the victim.
In a follow-up of the investigations, according to the CP, the victim was rescued unhurt, while the earlier listed suspects were arrested.
The CP disclosed that at the end of the investigations all the suspects would be charged to court for discreet prosecution.
Already, the suspects, on interrogation, admitted to planning and executing the kidnapping of the six-year-old boy.
Also paraded at the Command was one 19-year-old Abdul-Malik Auwal, a resident of Wailari quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area, Kano for abducting a 14-year-old girl, Halima Shehu, daughter of a resident of the community.
Furthermore, the CP disclosed that the suspect was arrested at Kenimi quarters, Kumbotso LGA, where he deceived and kept the victim for two days, adding that investigation is in progress and assured that the suspect would be charged to court at the end of the investigations.
