A 25-year-old suspected kidnapper, Diarhe Oghenemarho, has been arrested by the police during a patrol along Oreorokpe-Sapele Road in Delta State.
According to PUNCH, police sources said that around 11 am on Thursday, operatives of the Eagle-Net while on a patrol intercepted a commercial minibus for a routine search.
During the search, the operatives reportedly recovered a locally-made single-barrelled gun with five live cartridges concealed in the bag.
The weapon was allegedly found on Oghenemarho, of Okpara inland waterway community, Ethiope East Local Government Area.
During preliminary investigation, the suspected kidnapper was said to have confessed that he belonged to the notorious Eiye Confraternity cult and that his syndicate had been terrorising Warri and Ughelli axis.
He also allegedly confessed to being a member of a robbery/kidnapping gang, and his gang leader was one David Mathew, aka Cucumber.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the incident, disclosed that the suspect and the exhibits were in custody and investigation was ongoing.
