Chooks Oko, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Strategy, has refuted that Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi’s convoy was involved in a deadly accident along the Muhammadu Buhari International Airport route in Onueke.
Oko called the story “false and misleading,” adding that it is an effort to discredit the state’s efficient commissioning of current projects.
The statement read in part, “The attention of the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State has been drawn to a most malicious and wicked rumour making the rounds that his convoy was involved in a fatal crash along the Muhammadu Buhari International Airport Road, Onueke.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the governor’s convoy was not involved in any kind of crash or anything related to it.”
However, it was stated that there was indeed a crash of a Toyota Sienna vehicle and a motorcycle along the road but Oko insisted that the Governor’s convoy was nowhere near the incident.
He said, “The general public is thus enjoined to disregard the fake news”.
