How Police Secretly Delayed Seun Kuti’s Freedom

In accordance with Section 356 of the Nigerian Criminal Code Act, the artist was charged with assaulting a police officer and appeared in court on Tuesday.

Due to a holdup brought on by the Chief Magistrate and Registrar of the Yaba Court in Lagos, afrobeat musician Seun Kuti, who was remanded on Tuesday, is still unable to go home.

WITHIN NIGERIA sighted a post on Instagram authored by Omoyele Sowore a Nigerian human rights activist, he claimed that the Nigerian Police secretly took Seun Kuti before the Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Adeola Olatunbosun today without informing his lawyers.

The tweet reads:

FreeSeunKutiNow UPDATE: The @policeng secretly took Seun Kuti before the Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Adeola Olatunbosun today without informing his lawyers.

The Magistrate reportedly granted police request to extend their investigation time for four more days.

The reason was to ensure @RealSeunKuti is prevented from resuming his #GETTHESAX Summer Tour which was billed to start on May 20, 2023 in Calvia, Spain.

This was never about getting justice but to exact maximun revenge
