Jose Mourinho, manager of AS Roma, has stated that his priorities going into his team’s Europa League final against Sevilla on May 31 are to assist his players develop, accomplish significant goals, and support the club’s supporters.
After Roma and Bayer Leverkusen drew 0-0 in the second leg of their Europa League semifinal on Thursday night in Germany, Mourinho addressed the media.
Following a 1-0 victory on the road to the final, Mourinho’s team will now take on Sevilla in the Europa League final later this month.
Recall that Sevilla defeated Juventus 3-2 overall to advance to the semifinal second-leg match.
Speaking to Sky Sport after the game, Mourinho said: “My concern is not marking my place in the Roma history books.
“It is helping these kids [players] to grow, to achieve important things.
“It is also helping the Roma fans, who have given me so much since day one. It is an immense joy to get to another final.
“The boys give everything, this game is the result of our work, experience, tactical wisdom and knowing how to stay in matches. It is an incredible team.”
