Nseabasi Ekanem, the Labour Party (LP) Organising Secretary in Surulere Local Government Area, Lagos State, claimed that a factional member of his party, Abayomi Arabambi, revealed he received funds from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
During an interview on TVC, Ekanem made this claim and stated that he has evidence to back it up.
He said;
“Arabambi called me in Ogun, Abeokuta that APC gave him money and I have evidence to prove it.”
Ekanem refused to publicly humiliate a fellow LP member, instead urging his colleagues to put aside their differences.
He emphasized the importance of unity within the Labour Party, claiming that the party has made significant progress in recent months.
Ekanem attributed the party’s improved standing to the involvement of the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, which was nearly non-existent prior to Obi’s arrival.
He also brought up the party’s ongoing problem with misaligned priorities.
Ekanem also questioned Lamidi Apapa’s claim to be the Labour Party’s National Chairman.
He contended that the National Working Committee (NWC) is the proper body to make decisions about the party’s leadership, and that such decisions should be made at a convention.
Julius Abure and Apapa’s faction have been fighting for control of the party.
