Bayern Munich won the 2022-2023 German Bundesliga over Borussia Dortmund due to a superior goal difference.
The 2022-2023 German Bundesliga season was the fiercest in the league’s recent history, with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund going head-to-head until the final minute of the season.
In the early stages of the season, it appeared that Bayern Munich would win the Bundesliga for the record 10th time in a row, but that was not to be as the Bavarians began to record inconsistent results following the Qatar World Cup in December.
The club’s management was forced to fire coach Julian Nagelsmann despite Bayern being a point ahead of Dortmund at the time.
They hired coach Thomas Tuchel, who has been out of work for over 6 months after being fired by Chelsea’s new owners, led by Todd Boehly.
Under Tuchel, Bayern’s fortunes deteriorated as Manchester City knocked them out of the Champions League, and Dortmund took over first place in the Bundesliga after a string of unexpected results.
Fortunately for them, they entered the final game of the season trailing Dortmund by a point, which means that a win for them and a loss for Dortmund would give them the title.
Dortmund miraculously lost focus on the final day of the season against 9th-placed Mainz, forcing them to come from two goals down to draw 2-2.
Bayern Munich, on the other hand, struggled to defeat 11th-placed Koln despite taking the lead as early as the eighth minute thanks to Kingsley Coman.
Bayern conceded a penalty in the final 10 minutes of the game, which Ljubicic converted in the 81st minute due to a lack of concentration.
In the midst of the stress of losing the Bundesliga title to Dortmund, Jamal Musiala scored the game-winning goal in the 89th minute.
Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga for the tenth time in a row with a 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund and Bayern have the same number of points (71), but Bayern have 15 more goals.
