Military promises sustained battle against bandits in Northwest

The Nigerian Army has promised to continue fighting bandits even in their criminal hideouts in Zamfara and other states plagued by banditry, kidnappings, and other crimes.

Brigadier General Sani Ahmed, Commandant, 1 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Gusau and Sector I Commander of Operation Hadarin Daji, revealed this during a two-day training aimed at improving air communication between air and ground troops.

According to reports, Operation Hadarin Daji was established to combat crime in the troubled states of Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Zamfara, and parts of Niger.

For more than a decade, the North West zone has been ravaged by bandits and other criminal elements, resulting in the loss of many innocent lives and properties, including farmlands.

The implementation of Operation Hadarin Daji has significantly reduced the level of criminal activity in the affected northwest states.

In his quest to rid the zone of banditry and kidnappings, Ahmed organised a two-day training to enhance air communication between air and ground troops during operations

“Most bandits have fled Zamfara State to other states, and the state has ceased from being a colony of banditry.

“So I commend the troops for their relentless efforts in the fight against the bandits,” he said.
