Following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s inaugural speech on Monday, Ekiti State Governor Mr Biodun Oyebanji warned filling stations and marketers in the state against stockpiling petroleum products.
The Governor urged marketers to wait for further instructions from the Federal Government on the implementation of the planned subsidy removal and to avoid actions that could cause hardship to citizens.
To this end, Oyebanji summoned the leadership of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) to a meeting in his office by 4 pm today.
According to the Governor, heavy sanctions await any filling station or marketer found hoarding petroleum products or involved in the arbitrary increase in prices of petroleum products in the state.
He urged the citizens of the state to go about their daily activities peacefully and avoid any rancorous situation.
