Former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom congratulated Senator George Akume on being named by President Bola Tinubu as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Recall that Ortom boasted in 2019 that he had retired Akume, his former leader, from politics after Akume lost his bid to return to the senate.
Akume who lost the 2019 election to one of his men in the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Orke Jev, was later appointed a minister under former President Muhammadu Buhari’s regime.
Terver Akase, his media assistant, signed and distributed Ortom’s congratulations to the media in Makurdi on Saturday. Ortom praised Senator Akume for the appointment, calling him a seasoned administrator whose wealth of experience will be a great asset to the current administration.
He commended President Tinubu for honouring Benue by appointing a son of the state to the exalted position of SGF.
“His Excellency, Ortom prays for God’s guidance to enable Senator Akume serve the country diligently and successfully,” an excerpt from the statement read.
