Nigerian-British football star, Bukayo Saka, on Saturday, visited Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State at the State House in Marina.
The talented 21-year-old, known for his breathtaking performances on the football field, recently captured the attention of fans worldwide after he embarked on a special journey to his ancestral home, Nigeria.
His arrival in Lagos was met with great enthusiasm and jubilation from both supporters and the media. As the English international’s parents hail from Nigeria, his visit holds significant meaning for him and his family.
Governor Sanwo-Olu took to Instagram to share his excitement about hosting the Arsenal star.
He posted photos of their meeting, expressing his admiration for Saka and appreciating him for his autograph.
As an ardent supporter of Arsenal, Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed immense pride in the team’s remarkable performance in the Premier League, particularly highlighting the young players’ determination.
He noted that their accomplishments have served as motivation and exemplified the power of youth.
The governor emphasised his commitment to fostering similar spirit and opportunities for grassroots football in Lagos.
Revealing what he discussed with Saka, Sanwo-Olu wrote;
“I had the privilege of been taken into his world as he shared different moments of his career with me. l also shared with him some of our interventions in sports, what we have achieved so far, and what we’re still doing regarding youths and sports in Lagos State.
We talked about the stadiums we’re building across the state and howW we can collaborate to improve the sports in our State. Bukayo, thank you for my signed “Saka” jersey, and thank you for visiting me. I look forward to next season, and your collaboration with Lagos State.”
