It is another hellish moment for Catholic faithful in Anambra state as gun men have reportedly abducted a Catholic priest in Nnewi.

Rev. Fr. Stanislaus Mbamara was abducted while on his way from Awka back to Nnewi on Friday evening.

According to our source, Fr. Mbamara is a student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka and was going to his parish when he was abducted.

Confirming the incident, the Chancellor of the Diocese, Rev. Fr. Raphael Ezeogu requested for the prayer for the victim.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Diocese wrote that “yesterday, June 2, 2023, in the evening, our priest Rev. Fr. Stanislaus Mbamara, a student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, was kidnapped while he was returning from Awka to Nnewi.

“May you kindly join us in prayers for his quick release in good health of mind and body.”

WITHIN NIGERIA gathered that at the moment, the abductors have not contacted anybody for payment of ransom by either the Diocese or his relatives.
