Three suspected cultists wreaking havoc in Udebu community in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers have been killed by the police in the oil rich southern state.
A local, who spoke with newsmen in confidence, said the Police foiled a supremacy battle between two rival cult groups in Udebu community.
The cult gangs, according to the source, had mobilized to engage in a supremacy battle when they were intercepted by the Police who were acting on intelligence.
A young man, identified as Bright and two other suspected cultists sustained severe injury by during an exchange of gunfire with the police.
Ikechukwu Uturu, who is popularly called Old School and the General of one of the cult groups, escaped with a bullet wound.
One locally fabricated G-3 rifle, a locally fabricated pistol which uses AK 47 ammunition, charms and other dangerous weapons were recovered from the hoodlums by the Police.
The spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed that 3 suspected cultists were indeed fatally wounded by the Police in Udebu during a gun duel with the Police, but did not give further details.
