Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, the Governor of Benue State, congratulated Hon. Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh of Gbemacha Constituency and Hon. Lamin Danladi of Ado Constituency on their election as Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the 10th Benue State House of Assembly, respectively, on Tuesday.
The Governor also congratulated the newly elected members of the Assembly in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Kula Tersoo.
Governor Alia praised the legislators for their maturity during the voting process, saying that despite their political differences, their peaceful and orderly conduct demonstrated patriotism and love for Benue.
The Governor called for a harmonious working relationship among all branches of state government in order for his administration to provide democratic dividends to the people of the state.
He further charged the Legislative arm of the government to, as a matter of urgency, set the ball rolling by contributing their quota as critical stakeholders to move the state forward.
Governor Alia urged the new leadership of the assembly to be magnanimous in victory and eschew vindictiveness.
He further advised those who lost the assembly’s leadership election to also be gallant in defeat and join hands with the victors for the ultimate good of the state.
The Governor, who promised not to meddle in the affairs of the assembly, advised the lawmakers to operate independently without fear of interference from the executive.
