Nasir El-Rufai, the outgoing governor of Kaduna State, has come under fire from renowned Nigerian entertainer Charly Boy for a recent divisive religious remark.
In a viral video, El-Rufai claimed that he and other northern governors had used religion as a tool to help Asiwaju Bola Tinubu win the 2023 presidential election.
He claimed that the choice to employ religion as a political tactic was made in an effort to address the problem of tribalism and religion in Nigerian politics.
Concerned Nigerians warned the former governor against setting the nation ablaze, claiming he is a religious bigot, after the statement caused outrage across the nation.
Similarly, Charly Boy took to his official Twitter handle on Thursday to lambast the former governor, describing him as an expired drug.
The tweet reads, “This small micro chip of a man called El-Rufai. No need to go on pretending that you desire the progress of ur country Nigeria that you have so stolen from.
“It is silly to go on pretending that you’re even a true Muslim. You’re an expired drug bad for the unity of this country”.
