The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, has ordered the posting of Kenechukwu Onwuemelie to Abia State Police Command as the new Commissioner of Police in charge of the state.
The IG similarly approved the posting of Mustapha Bala to the Force Headquarters as the CP in-charge of Special Protection Unit.
The Force Headquarters made the latest deployments known through a correspondence signed by the Nigeria Police Force spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Friday night.
CP Onwuemelie holds a B.Sc degree in Psychology from Anambra State University. He was commissioned into the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 and has served in various operational, investigative, and administrative capacities in Ogun, Imo, the FCT, Plateau, and Kaduna state Commands.
He has attended several tactical and leadership courses within and outside Nigeria, including the Policy, Strategy and Leadership Course, at NIPSS in Kuru, Jos; International Course for Police Officers (China) amongst others.
CP Bala on the other hand is a graduate of Bayero University Kano, where he obtained a B.Sc degree in Sociology. He also holds a Master’s degree in Law and Criminal Justice, which he obtained from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.
He too has attended several management and leadership courses within and outside Nigeria.
Adejobi notes that the IG has charged the senior police officers to continue to entrench professionalism and respect for the rights of citizens in their new places of assignment.
“He equally tasked them to pursue the task of ensuring public safety and security in their areas of responsibility with renewed vigour, while calling on the government and good people of Abia State to lend their support to the new CP, Onwuemelie, in his new post,” he added.
